Chooses ARTESCA to complement their legacy storage infrastructure while adhering to a strict “no single-vendor lock-in” policy
Challenges
Since 1992, we have been providing IT solutions tailored to chartered accountants and their clients—professionals for whom data availability, security, and sovereignty are critical. While we already had an object storage solution in place three years ago, we faced several hurdles:
- Vendor Dependence: We wanted to avoid “vendor lock-in” and needed to diversify our infrastructure to ensure we were not reliant on a single provider.
- Complexity at Scale: Implementing high-resilience object storage across three main data centers is complex. As data volumes increased, finding a solution that remained genuinely optimized became increasingly difficult.
- Specific Needs: Originally, we needed a robust solution primarily for Veeam backups of critical client data, but we required a system capable of evolving with our needs.
Solution
After a thorough market analysis and deep technical study, Scality emerged as the solution that best met our requirements. Our approach involved:
- Strategic Selection: We chose Scality to complement our existing technology, prioritizing technical criteria and the solution’s ability to scale. The fact that Scality is a French company was a welcome bonus that aligned with our values.
- Disaster Recovery Implementation: The adoption of ARTESCA allowed us to establish a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) with a separate hosting provider located on the other side of France.
- Full Deployment: Leveraging our internal expertise, we deployed a secured, self-hosted object storage solution. This architecture ensures client data security and the ability to trigger a DRP even if our own teams lose access to administration tools.
Results
One year later, the results are clear, and our partnership has evolved into a strategic advantage:
- Expanded Service Offerings: Beyond internal backups, we now offer “Object Storage as a Service” to our clients. This covers Veeam backups, Microsoft 365 data, virtual machines, and dedicated storage buckets.
- Shift in Investment: Convinced by the performance, all our new investments and added capacity now rely exclusively on Scality technology.
