Pharmacie Familia, a rapidly growing Belgian network, launched in 2024 a strategic plan to increase its market share and optimize its processes. In a context where cyberattacks targeting healthcare companies are multiplying, data security became a major pillar of the transformation.

Before the project, the backup infrastructure was still based on magnetic tapes: daily physical handling, cartridge rotation and storage, lack of encryption… a setup that was functional but fragile.

Added to this was the need to prepare the organization for increasing compliance requirements, particularly those related to the NIS2 directive.

Several options had been considered, including solutions offered in private clouds from third-party providers. But the prospect of centralizing backups within Pharmacie Familia, maintaining control over the data, and benefiting from seamless integration with Veeam Backup guided the final choice.

The deployment was carried out by the Trustteam teams. Hardware delivered, installation completed, configuration aligned: within a few days, ARTESCA was operational.

Only one obstacle was encountered: an initial integration that was too rapid for all backup streams, temporarily saturating the system. The solution, however, was simple: restart from a clean baseline and proceed step by step.
